READING FC Under 23s will host European giants Bayern Munich in the Premier League International Cup semi finals.

Scott Marshall’s youngsters take on the German club’s second string at Madejski Stadium on Friday, April 12.

The tie will be decided on the night with extra time and penalties if a winner cannot be found in normal time.

Royals finished top of their qualifying group and unbeaten after victories against Leicester City and Feyenoord and a draw with Sparta Prague.

Marshall’s side then defeated Manchester United in the knockout stages thanks to a Danny Loader hat-trick.

It has already been a memorable week for the Reading Academy after seeing graduates Ryan East and Michael Olise both make their first-team debuts in Tuesday night’s home defeat by Leeds United.

Royals Under 23s return to Premier League Cup action this Friday when they host Newcastle United (1pm ko).

They are also set to face Maidenhead United in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup next Tuesday night (7.45pm ko).

Reading’s last outing was a 2-2 home draw with Middlesbrough at Hogwood Park last weekend.

Tyrone O’Neill and Mitchell Curry had Boro ahead on two occasions, but Ade Shokunbi and Tyler Frost (pen) netted to secure the draw.
