MAIDEN Place took a major step towards the Reading & District Sunday League Division One title after winning their top-of-the-table clash at home to Twyford Comets 3-1, writes Richard Ashton.

Jason Palmer, Joseph Danelian and George Hepburn got the goals for the home side, who now sit pour points clear the top with three games left to play.

Basement side Woodley United put in a brave performance, but remain pointless after suffering a 2-1 reverse at Woolhampton Cricket, Marcus Garrett and Ian Jubb with the goals for the home side.

George Taylor, Daniel Driver and Daniel Joao were on the scoresheet for 116 Exiles Reserves as they picked up a 3-3 draw at Kings United in Division Three, while Burghfield Reserves are the new leaders of Division Four following an 8-1 demolition of rock bottom Calcot FC.

Carl Allen struck a superb hat-trick, Jamie Wilson a double, with further goals coming from Callum Anderton, Daniel Turner and substitute Jack Matkin.

Calcot Royals slipped to second after going down 2-0 to Borussia Teeth, Matthew Armstrong with a brace, and Caversham United hammered Tilehurst Titans 7-1.

Samuel Foster and Josh France both grabbed hat-tricks, with Paul Gutteridge also finding the back of the net for the visitors.
