TILEHURST Albion moved back to the top of the Thames Valley Church League on goal difference after beating Wycliffe Wanderers 3-1 in a game which also doubled up as a Philmar Cup quarter-final.

Steve Hannah, Charlie Baines and Harvey Owen got the goals for the hosts, with Owen Bravey replying.

A Sam Carlisle double and a goal from Jack Perrett were not enough for Brookside St Laurence, the away side going down 6-3 at YMCA United.

Marcus Gainlall was among the home goalscorers.

Aladair Carter bagged a brace and Kwame Missah, Jacob Smith and Fraser Carter also found the back of the net as Wycliffe United hammered West Reading 5-1.

Jacob Potter, Dan Searle and Shaun Gray netted for nine-man Norreys as they survived having Ronan David and Gray red carded in a 3-3 draw with Greyfriars.

Ollie Chapman, Joel Evans and Andrew Stroud got the goals as Beacon Church eased past Reading Saints 3-0.

In another Philmar Cup last eight tie, YMCA Newbury knocked out Bethel United 2-0, Matt Bullock and Karim Gaye on the scoresheet.

WOODLEY United ladies picked up a point from their Southern Region Premier Division trip to Ascot United on Sunday, the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw.

May Hamblin and Rosie Page-Smith both had chances in the early stages, but Ascot began to come into the contest.

It was the home side who could have gone in front at the start of the second half, Woodley goalkeeper Nicole Haines denying Nicole Brown.

Woodley, though, enjoyed the greater possession in the final 20 minutes and looked to have won the game with eight minutes remaining, only to see Page-Smith’s low shot hit the base of the left post and rebound along the goal line for the keeper to fall on.

Leanne Saunders, player-of-the-match Amy McNab and Jazz Bird found the back of the net as Newbury beat Barton Rovers 3-0.

In Division Two South of the Thames Valley Counties League, Barton Rovers Royals gained a measure of revenge with a 2-1 win against Newbury Development.

India Cox put Rovers in front in the fifth minute, only for Kendall Gilmour to equalise from the penalty spot shortly after.

However, Cox proved the match-winner when she turned home an Ami Grosvenor Findlay cross before the break.

Nicole Pearce was Newbury's stand-out performer.
