EMMER Green returned to the top of the Senior Division with a convincing 5-0 home win against Southcote Colts, writes Richard Ashton.

A Dan Donegan free-kick put the hosts in front after Lorenzo Medford was fouled on the edge of the box, and they could have gone further in front before the break only to have efforts from Luke Donegan and Ashley Searle fail to find the back of the net.

A key moment arrived early in the second half when Jordan Cox's header was handled on the line by Louis Gallimore, the Southcote player red carded and Dan Donegan making it 2-0 from the penalty spot.

Another perfect set-piece from the two-goal hero was then flicked on to his brother John, but his strike was ruled out for off-side.

The third goal came when Ryan Adams squared the ball for Searle to fire home, and Medford made it 4-0 with his first goal for the club.

The rout was completed when Medford set up Jake Smith, who also slammed home his first for the club.

Eldon Celtic conceded their game at Purley.

Mid-table Tilehurst YM kept up their proud record of not having lost this season when influential defender Michael Chard has been available, holding title hopefuls Burghfield to a 1-1 draw.

Joe Haskell gave the Young Men the lead midway through the half, but Adam Taylor finally breached a back-line wonderfully organised by talisman Chard with 15 minutes to go to salvage a point for the visitors.
