MONDAY mornings have not felt this good in weeks if you are a Reading FC fan.
For the first time since early November, Royals supporters could head to work with a spring in their step thanks to Saturday’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
The victory at a bouncing Madejski Stadium was Reading’s first in 11 Championship matches and first under new boss Jose Gomes.
The Portuguese manager was quick to deflect the praise onto his players, while also covering a host of other topics in his post-match press conference.
And it seems the performance of Reading’s players over the 90 minutes has left plenty of fans in confident mood for the future.
Royals moved up one place to 22nd in the table and are now just two points from safety.
But they face a stern test this Saturday when they travel to Frank Lampard’s seventh-placed Derby County (3pm ko).

I think my favourite moment yesterday was when the fans were singing “Jose give us a wave jose jose give us a wave” and he didn’t just wave he stood up and applauded all of the fans

Can’t understand anyone criticising Bodvarsson yesterday. Thought he was outstanding. The only thing he did wrong for me was try to pick out Barrow after doing the hard work himself. His work rate on and off the ball was class, didn’t give the defenders a second. #readingfc

Some thoughts on yesterday’s game.

A very enjoyable game the most enjoyable for a very long time, the players worked hard for the team from the first whistle to the last. Big shoutout to Ejaria who started that move for Swift’s goal. He looks a very tidy player #ReadingFC
The moaners claimed Ejaria was 'pedestrian' and wouldn't be able to handle the 'physicality of The Championship'. He made them look right plonkers today. #readingfc
