AN Andy Wang treble and two apiece from Nigel Maltby and Brian Meheux saw Sonning Common & Peppard B win a hard-fought Division One match at Kingfisher D 7-3.

In Division Two, Milestone B continued their good run by beating Our Lady of Peace B 7-3, Graham Mendick with another good treble and Jingshun Haung winning twice. Simon Brookes picked up two consolation wins for his side.

Our Lady of Peace C managed a 6-4 win against Pangbourne WMC, Pradeep Desh starring with a hat-trick.

Bob Woodmansee was in great form as Sonning Sports A managed an 8-2 win over Curzon Club B.

Kingfisher F were 8-2 derby winners against a two-man Kingfisher E side, Richard Leachman winning both his matches including a nail-biting opening set victory over Eric Holmes.

Alan Mollet starred as Sonning Common & Peppard D toppled Our Lady of Peace A 7-3. Phil Burke’s win over Keith Winter proved pivotal as Springfield A beat Tilehurst Methodists A 7-3.

Kingfisher G and Tidmarsh C played out an exciting 5-5 draw in Division Three with David Wells staring for the Birds by winning all three.

Tidmarsh D and Curzon Club C also drew with Geoff Johnson hitting a good treble for Curzon, while Springfield B went clear at the top by beating bottom side Kingfisher H 9-1 with hat-tricks from Steve Leggett and Peter Gurney.

Richard Witt was another maximum man as Reading FC A narrowly beat Sonning Common & Peppard E 6-4.

Our Lady of Peace D beat Sonning Sports B 6–4, while Alistair O’Sullivan put in a player-of-the-match performance by gaining a treble to help Tilehurst Methodists B win 9-1 at Springfield C. Nigel Rowland also hit all three.

There were a number of emphatic scorelines in Division Four, where Reading FC B closed the gap at the top of the table following their 10-0 victory over Springfield D with Joe Bull, Harry Edwards and Derek Anderson all recording maximums.

Tidmarsh E also recorded a 10-0 win over Sonning Sports C, Steve Andrews, Roger Stevens and Pete Sinclair winning all their sets.

Milestone C lost 7-3 to Sonning Common & Peppard F, despite Oliver Bonser’s treble, with Gerry Bacon, Mike Casserley and Julian James each recording two wins for the Commoners.

Sonning Common & Peppard G’s two players, Anthony Reeve and David Pearson, were undefeated on the night which, along with the doubles, earned them a 7-3 win over Kennet Valley Free Church B.

Kingfisher I could also only field two players and ended up losing 10-0 to Springfield E, with Paul Martin, Julian Lancaster and Marcello Caramma each beating both their opponents.

At the top of the table, Tilehurst Methodists C and Our Lady of Peace E could not be separated, Roy Hull winning the final set to record his treble and ensure the match was drawn 5-5.

Two matches were played in the second round of the Lower Divisions Knock-out Cup as Reading FC A dismantled Springfield D 9-0 and Kingfisher G hammered their two-man clubmates Kingfisher H 8-1 in a one-sided contest.

There was also a delayed match from round one, which saw Tidmarsh E eventually come out on top 5-4 in a much closer encounter with Our Lady of Peace E.

In the Team Handicap there were comfortable 9-0 and 8-1 wins respectively for Kingfisher E over Tidmarsh A and Our Lady of Peace D over Kingfisher G.

Tarik Ramjuan starred for Kingfisher E for the second round running and Mark Carless and Ralph Phillips with maximums for OLOP.

A treble from Antony Alleyne, a pair from Wayne Alleyne and a single from Witt was good enough for Reading FC A to see off Our Lady of Peace E, while Tidmarsh D triumphed over Kingfisher D by the same 6-3 score line, the only maximum coming from Luca Bianchi in a valiant effort for the losing side.

The third 6-3 result of the round saw Springfield B take the last three sets to snap a three-set all deadlock, Robert Wilkie starring with three wins.

The final two matches both went down to the wire with Paul Treadgold and Derek Brooke-Wavell winning the match for their respective teams, taking the final set of the night, and in doing so, both securing maximums.

Treadgold starred in Our Lady of Peace DA’ s win over Tidmarsh B, Brooke-Wavell doing likewise for Sonning Common and Peppard B in their win over Milestone A.
