READING FC are erecting an honours board at Madejski Stadium containing the names of their Academy players who have represented the first team.
The board will be officially unveiled at 1.15pm tomorrow before Royals take on Stoke City in the Championship (3pm ko).
It will be situated on the approach to the main entrance to Madejski Stadium and will list all 47 youngsters who went on to play for the first-team, many of whom were coached by the club’s late Academy manager, Eamonn Dolan.
Reading’s highly-regarded youth set-up, which has been around for almost 20 years, continues to produce some outstanding talent.
Danny Loader, Liam Kelly and Andy Rinomhota – who all started in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at Leeds United – all came through the Royals Academy.
Before that the likes of Jordan Obita, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Shane Long, Michael Hector, Simon Cox, Hal Robson-Kanu and Jem Karacan also launched their careers with the Academy.
STAR – the Supporters’ Trust At Reading – along with the club’s vice presidents were involved in the scheme to erect the honours board.
