WITH the Championship side playing up at Leeds, a decent number of Reading FC fans are expected to make the much shorter trip to Bracknell Town to cheer on their Under 23 side in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup next Tuesday.

Those intending to do so, are advised to buy the match ticket–- just £5 adults and £3 concessions – in advance and also get to Larges Lane early.

The ground is modern, but very compact. Bracknell have already sold close to 800 tickets and that could swell into four figures come match day.

Spectators will not be able to park inside the ground or along Larges Lane, which is a non-through road.

Bracknell are advising fans to travel by public transport or use one of the several car parks in the town centre, which is only a short walk from the ground.

The Bostik League club – currently second in the South Central Division despite losing 2-0 at Cheshunt last Tuesday – are unbeaten this season on their 3G pitch and should give the young Royals a good run for their money.

THERE has been plenty of support, including one from an unlikely source, for David McNamara, the referee who received a three-match ban for using rock, paper, scissors before Reading FC's Women's Super League match against Manchester City after forgetting his coin.

Hundreds of referees risked being charged with breaching rules by using the game instead of tossing the coin before grassroots matches last weekend.

And the show of solidarity for the ref also stretched to England Hockey's Women's Premier League.

Senior umpire Rob Jenkins was among those who felt that McNamara had been unfairly treated and invited the captains of Slough and Bowdon Hightown to play rock, paper, scissors to decide the choice of ends before their game on Saturday.

LAST Thursday's extraordinary general meeting of Reading Cricket and Hockey Club rubber stamped the new constitution and service agreement which will determine how the club operates in the future.

There has also been a streamlining of the committee with president Geoff Ash and chairman Hugh Wilcock being joined by treasurer Mike Keiller, hockey and cricket reps Tim Mann and Jacqui Salazar with Nick Barton head of property management.
