TWO board competitions were decided at West Berks during the weekend when Georgie Seaman claimed the Gillas Cup and Darren Galbraith the Crawford Cup.

The Gillas Cup consists of three rounds with the best score of the two preliminary rounds being carried into the final.

Sian Soanes won the final with 40 points while Gale McAuley, with 36 beat Georgie Seaman on count-back to take second place.

Seaman took the Gillas title, however, as her 33 points in winning round one gave her a total of 69 points, just one clear of Soanes in second place.

Jane Brackenbury was third with 66.

There was a three-way tie in the Crawford Cup with Darren Galbraith’s gross 94, nett 75 taking the title on countback from Mark Ramos, gross 87, nett 75 and Richard Bower 84, 75.

Colin Price followed up his win in Division Two of the October medal at the beginning of the month by winning the Saturday stableford with 42 points.

John Harris was second with 39 and Lloyd Ponsford a further shot behind third.

Graham Mort won the men’s midweek stableford with 40 points beating David Gentleman on countback.

The same method decided third place with Tony Atkins beating Alan Wedell after they both finished with 38 points.

Deb Weddell won the ladies’ midweek October medal with nett 84, while Renee Wheeler (85) beat Mary Harwood on count-back to take second spot.

Andy Robbins won the O’Connell Cup with 38 points, while Martin Anscombe was second with 37 and Paul Hargrave third with 36.

KEITH Ellis completed a double at Wokefield Park by securing the Summer Singles competition and the Order of Merit.

Tony Stanley and Neil Stanley won the recent men’s foursomes at the club.

GORING & Streatley have had a busy summer, with Richard Lee (0hcp) winning the Mixed Club Championship by five shots.

Emily Savage (4hcp) successfully defended her Ladies’ Club Championship title with a score of +11 over 36 holes.

Margaret Berriman (8hcp) was runner-up.

Allison Vessey (28hcp) won Division Two ahead of Karen Brown (23hcp).

The team of John Dore (13hcp), Kenny Gurling (13hcp), Simon Knight (14hcp) and Terry Brown (20hcp) won the Corporate Cup earlier this month with a sensational 97 points.

Club member Alexander Nicholls (+2hcp) won the West of England Amateur Open at Burnham and Berrow, while past captain, President and Honorary Member, David Lane won the Bulgarian Senior Amateur Open Championship, triumphing by an impressive 15 strokes over 54 holes of competition.
