FORMER Reading FC Women striker Fran Kirby has been nominated for this year’s Women’s Ballon d’Or.
The Reading-born striker is among the 15-strong shortlist for the inaugural women’s award.
Kirby, who attended John Madejski Academy in Whitley, became Reading’s first full-time professional four years ago before joining Chelsea for a record fee in summer 2015.
The 25-year-old completed a memorable double last season when she was named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Women’s Footballer of the Year.
