Ten visually impaired players took part in Berkshire Vision’s golf day hosted by Sand Martins GC, Wokingham, last week.
Each was in a team of three who competed in three-ball Texas Scramble over nine holes with Richard Deadman being the most successful on the day.
He linked up with former Reading FC player and manager Mick Gooding and Alan Leeson to win the event with a gross score of 36 for a nett 17.4.
Their caddie was Louise Lucio-Palk, the chief executive officer of Reading-based Berkshire Vision.
Camille Kamara took the runners-up prize along with her teammates, Tom Leray-Meyer and one-legged golfer Stan Bembenek, the trio finishing with 37 gross for a nett 19.4.
David Benyon, along with Phil Chappel and Martin Marsh, took third place with gross 38, nett 19.8.
Andy Turner finished down the field, but his drive off the first tee was voted the best of all competitors by Sand Martins professional Symon O’Keeffe.
The trophy for the team winners was donated by Sand Martins with support from Berkshire Trophy Centre, with Gooding making the presentations.
Other Berkshire Vision members who took part were Steve Kempster, Ros Weir, Ruth Stacey, Colin Chandler, Stuart Pearce and Atif Umer.
