READING City gained a measure of revenge on Flackwell Heath by knocking them out of the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup with a 1-0 victory at Rivermoor on Saturday.

Andy Findlay and Rob Creech’s men had fallen victim to the same opponents 3-1 in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup five days previously, but they turned in an improved performance to secure progress to the second round of the competition thanks to Charlie Allen’s second-half header from a pinpoint Matt Hancock cross.

Fourth-placed Reading City return to Premier Division action with a home game against the side one place above them in the table, Brimscombe & Thrupp, on Saturday (3pm).

Woodley United crashed to a 3-1 home defeat to Wokingham & Emmbrook in their Division One Subsidiary Cup clash at Rivermoor on Monday night.

Jake White opened the scoring in the first half with only the crossbar denying the hosts an equaliser before half-time.

Connor Holland doubled the Sumas lead early in the second period, only for Kai Parton-Edey to quickly pull one back.

But White's second goal of the evening made the game safe for the visitors.

Second-placed AFC Aldermaston – who did not have a game last weekend – visit Chinnor this Saturday (3pm).
