PRESTCOLD A.C. fished their match on the Beat Five section of the River Kennet and Mark Steadman carried on his good run with another winning weight of 8lbs 12ozs, writes Alan Hughes.

The runner-up spot was taken by Mike Sheasby, who weighed in 8lbs 6ozs of silvers.

Completing the trio was Roy Green with the same species, which took the scales down to 6lbs 8ozs.

Reading Civil Service fished their match on the River Thames at Sonning and the rain probably was the reason only two anglers competed.

Gordon McGee managed to catch 3lbs 6ozs of bleak and roach and Richard Sturgess managed perch for 12ozs.

Seven members of Bracknell Avocets braved the rain to fish the Mapledurham section of the Thames where bites were at a premium.

Barry Moreton took 2lbs 14ozs 8drams of silvers to the scales to claim top spot.

Similar species were caught by all the anglers, but being beaten into second spot by half an ounce must have been difficult to swallow for Richard Herman.

Terry Smith completed the top trio with 2lbs 8ozs.

Fishing the Goring stretch of the Thames, T.R.B.L.A.S. had seven anglers booked in but one did not arrive, probably the weather had something to do with it as it was raining cats and dogs and carried on like that until 12.30pm when the rain stopped and the sun came out.

First place on the day went to Liam Page-Smith who had four bream and roach and perch for 17lbs 11ozs.

He used the whip and long pole to catch his fish.

The runner-up was Simon Couling who had 150 fish for 14lbs 4ozs.

Couling caught on the whip and had one bream on the feeder.

Third place went to Tony Tibble who had 11lbs 4ozs of roach and other silvers which he caught on the long rod.
