READING City goal ace Mitchell Parker didn’t keep his thoughts to himself following his side’s 3-1 home defeat by Flackwell Heath on Monday.

Shortly after the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup tie, he tweeted: “Embarrising (his spelling) tonight! Heart, desire, commitment, quality, intelligence all missing!’ Parker, who has 12 goals this season, followed up with another tweet on Tuesday – ‘Reflecting this morning, disappointing to leave on a defeat’.

'Leave’ refers to a two-week holiday, which he had mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago.

Parker certainly isn’t shy in making his feelings known on social media.

Last month, he revealed he had been battling a ‘serious gambling problem’, but after five sessions of counselling said his betting days were over and he could ‘finally push on with his life’.

As for City, they are a team blowing hot and cold which must be leaving joint managers Andy Findlay and Rob Creech very frustrated.

They have won six of their eight league games, with the two defeats coming at the hands of Ardley United – 3-0 away and 4-1 at home.

Then last Saturday they had an excellent 3-0 win at Lydney, becoming the first side to take all three points there this season.

Two days later, however, they were licking their wounds following the loss to a Flackwell side managed by former Highmoor Ibis boss Marcus Richardson.

City have a quick chance to seek revenge as the same two sides meet again at Rivermoor Stadium on Saturday, this time in the Bluefin Sports Hellenic League Cup.

  • JASON Lee, head coach at Reading Hockey Club, is also heavily involved in football, being an elite coaching consultant for the Premier League among others.

Last week, he spent a day at League One club Fleetwood Town, leaving him with a five-hour car journey.

Joey Barton’s men lost 1-0 at Southend on Saturday, but when I caught up with Jason following the hockey match in the evening, he was pleased to hear Reading FC had beaten Hull 3-0.

The Blues have close links with Royals, sharing medical staff including 1st XI physio Peter Lion, who carries out similar duties with Reading FC Women.
