PINEWOOD Gymnastics Club duo William Cowen and Tristan Singelee both won gold at the Trampoline, Tumbling & Double Mini Trampoline British Championships in Birmingham recently.

Cowen claimed first place in the men’s 15-16 tumbling category, with Singelee taking the honours in the 9-10 age group for the second year running.

Singelee, 10, from Bracknell, said: “I’m really happy. That was my second time because I won last year so I’ve defended my title. I was really pleased because I landed all of my runs, I’m very proud of myself.”

Cowen, 15, from Woodley stated: “I didn’t feel too confident because I hadn’t had a great training week, but the warm-up was great.

“Some things could have been better, but I put on a good ending and landed on my feet. My coach said just believe in yourself and do what you do best and it feels pretty good to have a gold medal around my neck.”

More than 500 gymnasts from 80 clubs took part in the two-day tournament including Team GB’s Olympic silver medallist Bryony Page.

She said: “The talent on show was phenomenal. It is wonderful to see so many youngsters showing off their skills.”
