NATIONAL Two South leaders Rams scored another seven tries for the third consecutive game as they maintain their unbeaten start.

A bumper crowd of 653 saw Seb Reynolds’ side put rivals Henley Hawks to the sword with a convincing 43-13 win at Old Bath Road.

After another bonus-point victory, head coach Reynolds beamed: “The effort of the front five was outstanding, it was extremely pleasing to see.

“It was a slow start for us as we had to fight to get on top physically.”

Rams found themselves in a physical battle against the visitors, but they quickly got on top by winning a scrum against the head.

However, it was Henley who got the scoreboard ticking with a Joe Butler penalty.

Rams continued to suck up the pressure from Henley through effective clearance kicks and began to assert their authority.

They took the lead soon after with a fine Alex Seers touchdown near the visitors’ posts.

Hawks responded immediately from the restart as Butler threw a miss pass to winger Sam Portland who sprinted down the left touchline before being stopped five meters out.

However, Rams were reduced to 14 men when Ben Henderson received a yellow card. Hawks kicked to touch and organised a routine catch and drive that ended with Tom Emery going over for an unconverted score.

Rams, though, grew in confidence and quickly hit back with a touchdown from scrum-half Miles Lloyd which was quickly followed by another from Tom Vooght to put the hosts 17-8 ahead at the interval.

The second half began in similar fashion as Rams’ pressure resulted in a yellow card for Henley’s Simon Perry.

Rams soon capitalised when Colin Thompson went over to secure the bonus point.

Hawks replied with a try from skipper Sam Lunnon, who broke three tackles before touching down.

However, Hawks didn’t trouble the scorers again as the final quarter belonged to Rams, with Rob Stapley, James Baker and Joe Duffelen completing a seven try haul.
