East Berks ladies defeated Royal Ascot 3.5-1.5 in the Berkshire County Duncan Trophy at Bearwood Lakes, having previously won this prestigious trophy, which is contested by 22 clubs, in 2014.

Calum Russell (12hcp) returned 38 points to win the Battle of Britain Stableford at East Berks. Runner-up was Chris Threlfall (12 hcp) with 37 points, with Trevor Sayce (13hcp) finishing third on countback with 35 points.

East Berks Seniors travelled to Parkstone GC on the south coast last weekend to play in the Parkstone Trophy finals day.

David Cowap, Stuart Lowden, Jeremey Platt, Duncan Rodgers, Nick Lane, Mike Robson, Martin Green, David Talyor, Graham Wilson, Mark Lawrence and Craig Mackenzie played 36 holes of foursomes scratch match play to win the Plate final against Hockley GC 6-4.

Following 12 games, which saw them have nine wins and draw, East Berks topped the Reading and District Seniors League with 42.5 points, finishing one point ahead of Calcot Park after defeating Sonning 3.5-2.5 in their final match of the season.

Captain Brian Savage said he was delighted to have won the league in his year of captaincy and praised all those who had played throughout the summer.

East Berks hosted the Wilson & Lushington Bowl Open competitions with Paul McAvoy from Harpenden Common winning the Wilson Bowl 36-hole scratch amateur competition.

McAvoy, a scratch golfer, shot an opening round 69 and in the second he recorded a two-over-par 71 to finish one shot ahead of East Berks' Ben Platt (scratch) who returned 68 in the afternoon. Woburn's Jordan Cullen (1hcp) took third place after rounds of 72 and 71.

The Lushington Bowl for the best nett score overall went to Darren Noel (4hcp) from West Hill GC with 66 and 69 for 135 (three under) with the host club's Paul Carson Long (8hcp) second after rounds of 66 and 72.
