DIVISION 4a runners-up Sulhamstead finished with a flourish as they beat hosts Royal Ascot 2nds by 101 runs, writes Richard Ashton.

Jamie Seward (54), Chris Mercer (54) and Marc Thompson (40) were all among the runs as Sully put on 267-8, Charlie Dunnett the pick of the bowlers with 3-36.

That total never looked like being chased as Matt Gill picked up 3-32, Josh Jayasingh’s 47 the main resistance as Ascot were bowled out for 166.

Mid-table Theale & Tilehurst (144) lost by five wickets to White Waltham (147-5).

Kidmore End finished fourth in Division 2a after hammering Windsor by 145 runs.

Jeff Sheldon (69), Oscar Fountain (50no from 40 balls) and Jake Leach (48 off 37) were all among the runs as the hosts racked up 276-7 in their 50 overs, and opening bowlers Azhar Udeen (4-30) and skipper James Frost (3-24) then helped knock Windsor over for 131.

Wargrave secured promotion to their highest-ever level after securing the Division 2b runners-up spot with a five-wicket success at home to Finchampstead 2nds.

Gary Loveday made a brilliant 106 for fourth-placed Finch (241-7), but Michael Cowdell (89) and Imran Malik (67no) helped the hosts reach 242-5.

Hurst finished second bottom after losing by five wickets at Aldershot.

Ollie Lovegrove top scored with 67 as the visitors were dismissed for 179, and despite Aryan Joshi claiming 3-36, Aldershot passed the target in the 32nd over.

In Division 3a, fourth-placed Purley on Thames crushed Cove 2nds by seven wickets.

Austyn Jackson (5-25) and dad Andrew (4-23) ran riot as the visitors were shot out for just 88, and Richard Sanford’s 54 helped the Potters reach their target in the 18th over.

Jacob Fitton top scored with 40 batting at No. 9 as rock bottom Sonning (136) were smashed by nine wickets at Tring Park 2nds (140-1), in Division 3b.

Wargrave 2nds sealed the runners-up spot in Division 5b with a five-wicket win at Boyne Hill 3rds.

Martin Smith (4-18) and Kirk Graham (3-36) were the destroyers-in-chief for the visitors as they bowled Hill out for 158, and Graham then completed a fine individual display with 52 not out as Wargrave ended on 159-5 after 27.5 overs.

Fourth-placed Eversley 2nds ended with a 63-run success at relegated Sonning 2nds.

James Berger-North (55) and Alex Crowder-Johnson (51) batted well in the middle order to lead the Boars to 229-8 in their 45 overs, and with Dave Howorth taking 3-35, they were able to bowl the hosts out for 166.

Relegated Purley on Thames 2nds ended their season on a high with a six-wicket win against Thatcham Town 2nds.

Michael Coggs took 3-27 as the visitors were restricted to 190-4 in their 45 overs, and Raj Senniappan’s 48 proved key in getting the Potters over the line with 28 balls to spare.

Finchampstead 4ths (167) lost by four wickets to Theale & Tilehurst 2nds (168-6) – for whom Mo Jamil made 65 – in Division 6b, while Hurst 2nds collected 20 points after basement boys Burnham 4ths conceded their game.

Nick Goodwin took 3-42 to help third-placed Bradfield finish an encouraging first season in the league with a six-wicket success at home to Aldershot 3rds.

The visitors could only muster 171-9, and Will Nevill’s unbeaten 66 ensured Jack Byrne’s side reached 172-4 with seven overs to spare.

In Division 7a, Mohammed Ghafoor (41 and 3-51) impressed with bat and ball for Wokingham 4ths (160), but they went down by four wickets to Sulhamstead 2nds (161-6).

Stephen Collins had proved the destroyer-in-chief for Sully with 5-35.

Kidmore End 2nds (96) were battered by 148 runs at White Waltham 2nds (244-7), while relegated Eversley 3rds (178-5) rounded off a disappointing season with a five-wicket success against cellar-dwellers Theale & Tilehurst 3rds (174-8).

Wargrave 3rds completed a memorable triple-promotion for the club by finishing as Division 8a runners-up after their six-wicket win against Hayes 3rds.

Kevin Rapley was the start performer with the ball for the hosts as he took 5-37 in nine overs, Hayes dismissed for 134.

That total never looked like being enough, and with opener Sam Warren making a fine 50, the hosts reached their target in 33.2 overs.

Bracknell 2nds finished third after picking up 20 points due to a forfeiture from Sonning 3rds, while Satpal Madhan’s 5-43 inspired Royal Ascot 4ths to a three-wicket success at home to Bradfield 2nds.

Jamie Farrow top scored with 54 as the visitors totalled 203-9 in their 40 overs, but Madhan completed a wonderful all-round display by making 62 to lead Ascot to 206-7.

Kidmore End 3rds ended fourth in Division 9a following a five-wicket victory at home to Yateley 3rds. Don Norman picked up 3-33 as the visitors posted 149-9 in their 40 overs, and Kidmore eased to 152-5 in reply.
