HURST ensured their Division 2b survival with a shock three-wicket victory at home to second-placed Wargrave, writes Richard Ashton.

Skipper Neal Robinson made an unbeaten 66 and Mandip Sohi (43 from 25 balls) and Mark Firth (47) were also among the runs as Wargrave were bowled out for 230.

Robinson (3-51) completed a fine all-round display, but key innings from James Watt (93) and Ollie Lovegrove (41no) hustled the home side to 231-7 with just two balls to spare.

Hurst travel to Aldershot this Saturday, while Wargrave require just a point from their home game with Finchampstead 2nds to secure promotion.

Kidmore End moved up to fourth in Division 2a following a comfortable six-wicket win at Amersham 2nds.

Captain James Frost (5-39) and Guy Ashby (3-40) did the damage as Amersham were bowled out for 215, and Abid Ul-Wahab (63) and Zac Leonard (44no) made light work of the target to take their side home with almost 12 overs to spare.

Kidmore End complete their season at home to Windsor on Saturday.

Captain Andrew Clarke made a vital 59 batting at No. 8 to help Purley on Thames beat basement boys Wooburn Narkovians by 76 runs in Division 3a.

The Potters recovered from 83-6 to reach 197, and Robbie Jeffrey (6-54) then ran through the Wooburn line-up as they were knocked over for 121.

Purley on Thames visit Cove 2nds this Saturday.

In Division 3b, relegated Sonning lost by one wicket at home to Kew 2nds.

Duncan Parr top scored with 73 in Sonning’s total of 207, and despite the best efforts of James Kennealy (4-53) and Parr (3-37), Kew edged home with 33 balls in hand.

Sonning end a tough campaign at Tring Park 2nds this Saturday.

Sulhamstead secured promotion from Division 4a with a three-wicket victory at home to Boyne Hill 2nds.

Doug Macdonald (4-20) and Christian Blackford (3-19) were the destroyers-in-chief as Boyne Hill were dismissed for 131, and Steve Belcher’s unbeaten 57 helped Sully recover from 62-5 to reach their target in the 43rd over.

Sulhamstead visit Royal Ascot 2nds on Saturday.

Micheal Holder starred with bat and ball as Theale & Tilehurst beat Newbury by three wickets.

He took 3-39 as the hosts were bowled out for 229, and then top scored with 56 as T&T reached their target in 44.1 overs.

Theale & Tilehurst host White Waltham on Saturday.

Wargrave 2nds Division 5b promotion hopes were given a major boost as they defeated Bracknell by eight wickets.

The two sides swapped places in the table with Wargrave now second – 14 points clear – after John Rimmer (4-33) and Arul Appavoo (3-27) decimated the visitors for just 67. Wargrave (69-2) knocked the runs off in 22.1 overs and now appear set for promotion.

Relegated Purley on Thames 2nds (116) lost to Falkland 3rds (152) by 36 runs, while rock bottom Sonning 2nds (95) were hammered by eight wickets at Thatcham Town 2nds (96-2).

Binfield 2nds secured promotion from Division 6b with a week to spare as they overcame Hurst 2nds by six wickets.

Kelvin Baillie (103) and Abhir Joshi (54no) were among the runs as the visitors totalled 229-5 in their 45 overs, but useful knocks from Will Sennett (55) and Steve Jeffrey (54) ensured Binfield reached 230-4 in 36.2 overs.

Jack Byrne (3-14), Ben Armstrong (3-27) and Ben Harvey (110no) were in fine form for Bradfield (191-1) as they hammered Burnham 4ths (187) by nine wickets.

Bradfield host Aldershot 3rds on Saturday.

In Division 7a, Sulhamstead 2nds (219-8) kept their promotion hopes alive with a 51-run win at Royal Ascot 3rds (168).

Luke Sinclair raised his Kidmore End 2nds' (221-4) average to 111.33 for the season with an unbeaten 66 as they beat cellar-dwellers Theale & Tilehurst 3rds (217-6) by six wickets.

Bracknell 2nds saw their Division 8a promotion hopes all but ended by Wargrave 3rds following a 132-run trouncing.

Oliver Newton (86) and Chris Hattey (43) led Wargrave to 223-7, and Scott Walker’s 5-32 then ensured Bracknell were bowled out for 91.

Jim Chettleburgh top scored with 56 as Bradfield 2nds (181-4) beat Sonning 3rds (177-6) by six wickets.
