READING Racers are back in home action on Saturday with a match against the Weymouth Wildcats at Eastbourne’s Arlington Raceway.

Coming off the back of a 21-15 away win on the Isle of Wight last Thursday, the Racers are looking to go unbeaten in their final three matches of the season as they bid to finish as runners up in the Southern Development League, after claiming the title last year.

Star of the show last Thursday was 17-year-old Jamie Bursill, pictured left, who dropped just a single point on the night, while Nick Laurence and Stephen Whitehouse both chipped in with six.

Racers have already been victorious over Weymouth this season and are confident of another win against the yet-to-win Dorset nomads.

After a slight re-jig of the line-up on Thursday seemed to be successful, Whitehouse will remain at No.2, with Rhys Laker moving to No.4.

Club senior Laurence sits out as unbeaten 16-year-old Dan Gilkes comes back determined to further master the Sussex track.

Wildcats’ No.4 Bailey Fellows stood in for Reading on the island, winning some new admirers along the way, looking far better than his single-point return.

Reading’s next battle will be with the new and undefeated Kent Kestrels on September 1, with their outstanding match against Isle of Wight on September 22, both matches being at home.

Saturday’s teams: Reading Racers – 1. Dan Gilkes, 2. Stephen Whitehouse, 3. Jamie Bursill, 4. Rhys Laker.

Weymouth Wildcats – 1. TBC, 2. Martyn Smith, 3. Jacob Fellows, 4. Bailey Fellows.
