CALCOT Park club captain Chris Shackell held his weekend of competitions for all the members; an individual stableford for five-day members on Friday and full members on Saturday, closing with a team event for everyone on Sunday.

The Captain’s Prize for Juniors was won by Lottie Cadle with an outstanding performance, scoring 42 points which saw her edge out Nic Sullivan on countback for first spot. Victoria Prietzel scored 41 points to claim third.

The five-day members’ competition was won by Carole Ford with 40 points ahead of Pete Honey with 35 points.

Saturday’s Individual Stableford saw a three-way tie on 38 points and was won on countback by Matt Bicknell, with Nick Bunyan runner up and George Wilson third.

Prizes for nearest the pin on all four par 3s went to Mike Brighty, Luke Coleman, Jason Day and Ben Russell.

Harry Powell won the longest drive with a monster hit of more than 380 yards on the 18th hole.

Sunday’s team event was won with 91 points on countback by Maureen Rogers, Marion Taylor, Alison Sant and Carla Lancaster.

Vets Trophy

ON one of the hottest days of the year, 55 ‘Veterans’ over the age of 55 competed for the Vets Trophy at Calcot.

The stableford event sees competitors receive an extra half point for every year they are over the age of 65.

Overall winner was Neville Sprake with 41 points. He then received a further 7½ ‘age points’ to total 48½.

Seniors captain, Alan Galvin, was runner up with 47½ points with Ron Fuller third on countback, also 47½.

Age Group Category winners: 55-59 – Richard Chapple (35pts); 60-64 – Steve Tanner (43 pts); 65-69 – Vyv James (43+2½ = 45½ pts); 70-74 – John Barnett (42+4 = 46 pts); 75+ – Dennis Hooper (38+7½ = 45½ pts).
