YOUNG goalkeeper Lewis Ward has penned a new deal with Reading FC to stay at the Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2020.

The highly-rated stopper, 21, spent the majority of last season on loan at Aldershot after coming through the Reading Academy set-up.

During his loan spell, Ward put in a number of good performances, pushing the Shots towards a fifth-place finish in the Vanarama National League.

He has also been busy off the field after completing his degree in Sports Journalism at the University of Staffordshire.

Ward has also had loan spells at Sutton, Whitehawk, Margate, Hungerford and Icelandic top-tier side Fylkir.

He earned silverware as a Royal when he was part of the Premier League Cup win over Manchester City in 2014.
