MARK Symons and Ben Folland triumphed with 44 points as Sonning held their Men’s Invitation Day recently.

They were two points clear of Duncan Forbes and Roy Logan, who came second on count-back from Will Gold and Toby Cudworth.

A total of 32 pairs competed, with Mark Hall taking the prize for longest drive and Paul Brown taking the nearest the pin accolade.

Claire Randall won the Ladies’ Club Championship by a remarkable 19 shots.

She had rounds of 81 and 82 for a total of 163, with Elspeth Cooper (87 and 95 for 182) in second.

Grace Reid took third with 93 and 94 (187).

Richard Bianga won the mixed bogey by finishing 7up, three better than Michael Townend and Daniel Powell.

Fen Law’s 33 points were enough to win the junior stableford on count-back from Isaac Thompson, Jack Green coming third with 27.

Gold (8hcp) won a recent mid-week stableford with 40 points, edging out Tom Shone on count-back, with Chris Gurney Jr a point behind.

Andrew Burge’s nett 69 was enough to take the mid-week medal on count-back from Simon Warren. Kenny MacMillan was third, also with a 69.

Sonning Vets gained a 3-3 draw at Henley, with the pairs of Peter Coe and Dave Smithfield, John Allen and Chris Mills, and Dave Fidler and Ken Smith victorious on the day.

The beaten duos were Glyn Duff and Keith Hodson, Fred Freeman and Paul Cain and Scott Trathen and Alan Tubb.
