JULIAN Telford’s maximum helped Tilehurst Methodists A to a 6-4 victory over Sonning Common & Peppard B in Division Two to dent the beaten side’s promotion hopes.

Meanwhile, Sonning Common & Peppard D took full advantage by winning 7-2 at Pangbourne WMC in a two-against-two match, Malcolm Gregory and Niall McGrane picking up wins against John Simmonds and Leroy Wilson to move their side level with their B team counterparts.

Lee Calcutt led the way with a maximum as Tidmarsh C won 7-3 at relegation-threatened Kingfisher F, Luca Bianci earning good wins over both Chris and Ray Webb for Kingfisher and in a quickfire return fixture, hat-tricks from Calcutt and Simon Barter gave Tidmarsh an 8-2 win.

Tim Raby and Matt Stone both starred as Sonning Common & Peppard C beat bottom-of-the-table Pangbourne WMC 9-1.

Milestone B are promoted from Division Three, Sanket Dave with a treble as they won 6-4 at Sonning Sports A which included a hard-fought 8-11 14-16 11-8 12-10 11-7 win against Paul Savage.

Dave and Zoltan Keleman both won twice as they also won 6-4 against Our Lady of Peace C.

Phil Burke’s 13-11 8-11 12-10 9-11 11-9 win over Arun Rajagopal looked to have given second-placed Springfield A the points against Milestone A, but late wins from Chris Collins and John Crosfield saw Milestone hit back to earn a 5-5 draw and give them a crucial point in their battle to avoid the drop.

Igor Sremec and Willis Ma both got maximums as Kingfisher H won 6-4 against Sonning Common & Peppard E, a result which lifts them clear of any relegation worries.

In the big top-of-the-table clash in Division Four, the Saiyan Brothers won 6-4 at second-placed Our Lady of Peace D, with Alex Horscroft hitting a hat-trick.

Vidhu Ravinath won two, so lost his 100 per cent record to OLOP’s Binit Bhaskar who beat him 7-11 11-3 10-12 11-8 11-8.

Earlier the Saiyan Brothers also won 6-4 at Reading FC A with Ravinath and Emma Blachford both winning twice.

Saiyan Brothers are now confirmed as champions with 17 wins from as many games.

Springfield B beat Curzon Club C 6-4, despite a treble from Curzon’s Charlotte Binley.

Our Lady of Peace D beat Curzon Club B 7-3 to move closer to promotion with Bhaskar gaining a maximum. For Curzon, Geoff Johnson gained a double.

Springfield B continued their climb up the table by beating Tidmarsh D, Steve Leggett did well to win all three for Springfield, while Our Lady of Peace E managed a 6-4 win over bottom side Sonning Common & Peppard F with Johnson Xu gaining a hat-trick.

In Division Five, Tilehurst Methodists D fought back from 3-0 down against Tidmarsh E, but lost the doubles and eventually the match 6-4.

For Tidmarsh, Bob Sunerton won one, while Pete Sinclair and Steve Andrews each won two, with Jamie Li-Telford and Lala Stryjak recording singles, while Steve Christelow recorded a brace in reply for Methodists.

Tidmarsh E then beat Springfield C by the same 6-4 margin, despite a treble from Springfield’s Rob Atack, Tom Berryman winning Springfield’s other set.

Doubles from Pete Sinclair and Steve Andrews, along with a single from Sunerton and the doubles helping Tidmarsh gain both points.

Leaders Our Lady of Peace F defeated Milestone C 7-3, Tony Barnett winning one, Jan Polnik two and Graham Stark all three while, in reply, John Evans won twice and Tony Hayden won once.

Sonning Sports B kept up the pressure on OLOP with a 9-1 home win against Reading FC B, Derek Anderson avoiding the whitewash when he beat Cris Reynolds, with Sally James and Florin Dimofte both recording trebles.

Springfield D recorded an 8-2 victory over Kingfisher L, thanks to maximums from Marcello Caramma and Paul Martin, as well as a double from Julian Lancaster, who lost to Dmitry Merzlyakov over five games.

Milestone C could taste victory before Sally James, of Sonning Sports B, fought back in the 10th set to beat Carl Edlind 7-11 11-9 4-11 11-9 13-11, thus tying the match at 5-5.

Her win, along with a treble from Florin Dimofte and the doubles earned their point, countering a single from Edlind and doubles from both Maksym Schipka and Evans.

This result meant Our Lady of Peace F increased their lead at the top when they beat Tilehurst Methodists D 7-3, the match having been nip and tuck before the doubles, the final three sets all going to five games.

Stark recorded a further treble, Tony Barnett his first double, with Mariusz Paluszkiewicz recording a single while, in reply, Steve Christelow won two and Ryan Arch won one.

Despite a treble from Derek Anderson, Reading FC B succumbed to a 7-3 defeat at Sonning Common & Peppard G, thanks to doubles from Mike Casserley, Gerry Bacon and Julian James.
