THERE were no club matches on Reading & District Angling Association waters last weekend, and very few on the clubs’ own waters, writes Alan Hughes.

Reading Fishing Club fished the last of their four-match pike series at their Beale Park Lake at Pangbourne.

Thames Valley Angling’s proprietor Alan Clark took the honours with four pike weighing 41 1bs.

Jeff Ives carried off the Joe Baker Pike Match Cup with 39 points over the four matches ahead of Frank Northway (37) and club match secretary Keith Wilkins, also with 37 points but countback on weight was less than Northway.

Tilehurst Royal British Legion held their match on the River Thames at Hardwick.

Chris Humphreys had the one bite that resulted in a 4lbs 11ozs chub to take the top spot. Liam Page-Smith managed to snare an early-season tench of 4lbs 4ozs for second prize, while Dave Cowley claimed third with two skimmer bream weighing 3lbs 6ozs.

The RDAA Tuesday Club returned to the Stacey complex to fish the Soke Road Lake.
