A CLUB believed to be the first to play Sunday League football in the Reading area is holding its 50th anniversary reunion on Saturday.
Reading Orient played in the Slough and Maidenhead Sunday District League, which was made up of teams from that area and included many players who appeared for the two town sides.
Orient finished as runners-up in their first season and later played in the Reading Sunday League when it was first launched.
Pictured right is a picture of the Whitley-based side during their early stages playing in the Slough and Maidenhead Sunday District League in the 1960s.
Any former players are welcome to meet up at the South Reading Community Centre, in Northumberland Avenue, from 7pm.
