READING FC are poised to complete the deadline day signings of Watford striker Matej Vydra and Benfica winger Ola John – but look set to lose Michael Hector to Chelsea.
Vydra and John, both aged 23, arrived at Madejski Stadium earlier today in order to seal their switches to the Royals before tonight's 6pm transfer deadline.
But highly-rated defender, Michael Hector, is set for a shock £4 million move to Chelsea later today having undergone a medical at Stamford Bridge.
However, it is understood the Blues will allow the 23-year-old centre-back to return to Reading on loan for the remainder of this season.
Former Royals boss Alan Pardew was also in the race to sign Hector and take him to Crystal Palace, but Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho beat him to it.
Reading have close ties with Chelsea where manager Steve Clarke once worked under Mourinho, and they have already secured the signing of Brazilian forward, Lucas Piazon, 21, on loan for the season.
