The Royals have not won at home in the Championship since January 28 when they thrashed Blackpool 5-1.

Since that result they have taken three points from six games at the Madejski, including a 3-1 loss to basement side Barnsley and a 1-1 draw with eight-man Yeovil Town, who were also bottom at the time.

They were unable to arrest their home slump last weekend as they drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town.

And Morrison acknowledges they must find a way to start getting results at the Madejski as the season nears its conclusion.

“Our home form has got to pick up because it has not been good enough,” said Morrison, who made his comeback in the game after nearly five months out with a knee injury.

“None of us can put our finger on it, it’s just one of things that happens in football. We’re doing everything we can on the training pitch to change that and make the Madejski a fortress again, like it was at the start of the season.

“If we can pick up some points from these next two away games we then have some big home games after that. Hopefully we can cement our place in the play-offs.”

Morrison was recalled to the starting line-up against Huddersfield after five months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

It was only two years ago that the 23-year-old defender was on loan with the Terriers and helped them get promoted to the Championship by scoring in the play-off final at Wembley.

And he says he was disappointed with the goal scored by Nahki Wells that gave his former side an early lead at the Madejski on Saturday.

“I was over-eager to win the ball and the Huddersfield player gave me a little nudge and was in on goal,” he commented.

“We responded well and got a goal back straight away which levelled things out. Alex [McCarthy] made some fantastic saves and it’s probably a good point.

“It’s getting to that nervy stage of the season and the only thing we can focus on is Saturday.”

Reflecting on his return from injury, Morrison said: “It’s been almost five months since I got injured against QPR and it’s gong to take a couple of games to get up and running.

“I was meant to come back in February then pulled my quad muscle so it’s been a prolonged injury.

“Now I’m at a good level of fitness and just to get through Saturday’s game was fantastic for me. I can only get better and I have to keep going.”

Up next for the Royals are back-to-back trips to Charlton Athletic this Saturday (3pm ko) followed by AFC Bournemouth next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

Danny Guthrie could be poised for a recall this weekend after serving a two-match ban.
