STYLISH Swedish furniture has been available on our doorstep for little over a year now and already it is plain to see IKEA has revolutionised the town.

Ikea Reading, based in Calcot, was the first store to built in the UK for seven years and popularity continues to grow for their unique and immense offering.

With the prestigious Reading Retail Awards on the horizon, Ikea is proud to be sponsoring the Sustainability in Retail Award to reflect its own business values.

Claudia Sullivan, communication specialist, said: "Sponsoring the Sustainable category in the Reading Retail Awards felt natural, and the right thing to do.

"It is our first year sponsoring a category in the Reading Retail Awards and we are proud to be involved.

"We found there was a need to be closer to our customers and we are proud to have joined this wonderful community.

"At IKEA we live through our values, these are the foundation of our work. By living them, we form the unique IKEA culture where togetherness is key.

"We feel that Reading Retail Awards share this value, bringing people of Thames Valley together and recognising businesses for their excellence.

"From the beginning, IKEA has taken a different path. We have decided to side with the many. That means responding to the home furnishing needs of people around the world.

"Sustainability is becoming an integrated part of our business and we aim to have a positive impact on people and the planet.

"We help people live a more sustainable life at home with products that save water and energy, preserve food and minimise waste.

"This also applies beyond the home through the impact of our business and the role we have in society."

House of Fraser, Sainsbury's, Cooperative and True Foods Community have been named in the shortlist for this years sustainability category.

Tickets are now on sale for the Reading Retail Awards 2017, which will this year be hosted by Sangeeta Bhabra from ITV and Reading FC legend Ady Williams.

All finalists will receive two free tickets, while additional tickets can be purchased at £75 at www.readingretailawards.co.uk/
