PROPERTY GURU Jon Hallett has sponsored the Reading Retail Awards since its inception in 2009.

The director of Winkworths said he still wholeheartedly believed in the awards and in particularly the category he sponsors - Reading's Shooting Star.

Mr Hallett will be at the awards ceremony on September 5 at the Hilton Hotel, Drake Way, to support the shortlisted businesses and individuals who have been nominated for the 12 awards. A thirteenth award will be given to the retailer of the year.

Tickets for the ceremony hosted by ITV Meridian's Sangeeta Bhabra and Jack FM's Neal Veglio, are on sale at £75 each. It includes a champagne reception, three course meal with wine and dancing. Each of the shortlisted business gets two free tickets to enjoy the evening.

Mr Hallett said: "The awards are something I have always been involved with since the beginning.

"I think I have a particular allegiance to the award as if there had been something like this around when I was starting off I would have put myself up for it and loved to have won it.

"We reward higher achievers at Winkworths and I would hope that this kind of award rewards an individual outside their organisation."

He added: "I get a lot of satisfaction from sponsoring the Reading Retail Awards because the town and surrounding area has always been generous to me and I want to give something back."
