April is National Pet Month, so what better time for a celebration of our furry, feathered - or even scaly! - friends.

This month, we have asked readers across the town and beyond to send in pics of their loveable furry friends.

In all, we have had over 20 submissions and have loved seeing all the wonderful pets you own!

From cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, and more.

The competition is now over for another year, and here are the submissions we have had for 2023!

We hope your pet made the cut.

We look forward to seeing what 2024 can bring!

What is your pet's name and breed?Star and she is a greyhound

What make's your pet so special?Oh gosh where do I start! Star was found by a rescue dumped in Ireland emaciated and with multiple injuries, once recovered enough Star made her way over to Kent Greyhound Rescue and we came across her story online and decided to give her a forever home with us in Reading. We have now had Star 7 years and not only has she given us so much joy over that time she also helps our other dog Sam, Sam used to suffer with separation anxiety but with Star by his side this became a thing of the past and now Sam is about to turn 14 and completely deaf and struggling with his eyesight he now relies on her to be his eyes and ears too. She has also helped with my social anxiety and together we have attended many group greyhound walks and even had a go at agility and lure coursing which she loved! Not only that Star is a registered Pets as Therapy dog and has brought much comfort to residents in care homes, being so quiet and gentle she will lay or stand for any fuss She is a truly special dog and having been so miss treated in her past she is just so loving and trusting.

What is your pet's name and breed?Barney Patterdale x Jack Russell

What make's your pet so special?Barney was the runt of the litter, I went to see and collect him when he was 8 weeks old. Barney will be 13 on May 18th, he has been the most loving and loyal best friend for all that time. Barney has doggy dementia and forgets he needs to eat. He is also struggling with arthritis in his back legs, every day he is a little worse than yesterday. I cherish every moment with him as I know our time is running out. Barney is the greatest love of my life.

What is your pet's name and breed?Skye Border Collie

What make's your pet so special?Skye is such a loving and happy little dog - she loves adventures in the outdoors, but is also thrilled to just cuddle on the sofa. Her favourite thing in the world is a belly rub. Skye is also fairly clever : she knows the names of most of our family members, a whole host of cute tricks, and is working on her posing skills! She has the tiniest face, lies down in muddy puddles, and loves keepy-up with a balloon.
