A CARE home is offering people with dementia the chance to attend a free event on Wednesday.

Winchcombe Place in Newbury is hoping to promote dementia awareness by opening its doors from 10.30am to 12pm.

The Maple Crescent centre is helping to create a dementia-friendly community, with advice and support on coping with memory loss.

Cliff Hutchings, home manager at Winchcombe Place, said: “At Winchcombe Place we have a commitment to encourage others to learn about dementia, as well as help the community turn their knowledge into action by making our community more aware of those living with dementia.

“The aim of the event is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones and to support them to lead independent and fulfilled lives.

"We are looking forward to welcoming local people to Winchcombe Place for what promises to be an interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.

“We look forward to welcoming members of the Newbury community into our home on Wednesday to spread awareness of what it is like living with dementia.”
