A MAN and a woman have been arrested in connection with modern slavery offences.

Officers from Thames Valley Police (TVP) made the arrests on Bartholomew Street, Newbury, as part of the force's operation to tackle modern slavery.

A 39-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were both arrested at around 11.15am on October 17 and have since been released under investigation.

Neighbourhood officers will be in the area, speaking with residents who have any questions or concerns, as enquiries are carried out.

TVP is currently carrying out an 18-month 'Hidden Harm' campaign to raise awareness of abuse across Berkshire.

The campaign launched at the start of October and has been focussing on modern slavery by increasing awareness and highlighting the warning signs.
