A GLOBAL human rights body has recognised a dedicated school for making strides in equality.

Theale Green School received Level 1 accreditation from Unicef in their Rights Respecting School Award.

The honour is given to schools deemed to reflect Unicef principles and those of the United Nation's Convention on the Rights of Children.

Julie Turner, newly-elected head teacher at Theale Green, explained: “We are delighted and proud to receive the Level 1 Award from Unicef UK.

“This award will have a positive impact on our students and the school community by reinforcing the importance of putting children’s rights at the heart of a school.

“We are looking forward to the next stage of achieving our Level 2 Award.

“This will also prepare Theale Green students well in becoming informed and active global citizens of the next generation.”
