A CHIEF inspector will face magistrates charged with obstructing a police constable in Reading.
Chris Maddox, who works in the British Transport Police control room in London, was arrested by Thames Valley Police (TVP) officers on Monday, March 13.
The TVP officers were responding to reports of rowdy behaviour and arrested the off-duty inspector.
He was charged with one count of obstructing a police constable in their duty and will appear before Reading Magistrates' Court on April 13.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "An investigation by our professional standards department is underway to determine whether any misconduct has taken place.
"Chief inspector Maddox has been placed on restricted duties whilst the investigation is ongoing."
