MATT Rodda hailed a debate on organ donation held in the House of Commons last week.
Figures show 54 people have died across Berkshire over the last decade while they waited for organ donation.
Meanwhile, there have been 4,712 deaths nationwide.
A potentially historic bill was discussed by politicians on Friday and would could see England to switch to a presumed consent system for organ donation.
Speaking after the debate, Reading East MP Mr Rodda, said: “I think it is a desperate tragedy that people have died waiting for organs, and that's why I'm supporting this new piece of legislation which I hope will become law – and save lives.”
