Elderly horse rescued from ditch
AN ELDERLY horse had to be rescued after it became trapped in a ditch.
Firefighters were called to Dunt Lane in Hurst following reports that an animal was in distress.
Crews spent an hour and a half with the 35-year-old horse and eventually managed to free it from the ditch.
A spokesman for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It was quite an old horse but it was fine once we got it out of the ditch.
"We have a special animal rescue team over in Caversham which assisted with the operation."
