A MOTORCYCLIST was rushed to hospital with leg injuries following a collision on Monday.

Fire crews and paramedics were called to Northumberland Avenue at around 2.50pm following reports of an accident between a bike and a car.

Nobody was trapped inside the vehicle but the biker sustained injuries and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

A spokesman for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Thames Valley Fire Control Service received reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a car in Northumberland Avenue.

"Crews from Caversham Road and Wokingham Road Fire Stations were sent to the scene.

"One person was taken into the care of South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS)."

Firefighters worked to make the scene safe and were there for about 30 minutes.

A statement from SCAS added: "We received multiple 999 calls this afternoon reporting a collision between a car and a motorcyclist.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.

"The motorcyclist had sustained a leg injury along with some other minor injuries and after initial treatment at the scene was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital."
