HUNDREDS of motorcycles, trikes and scooters roared through the streets of Reading on Good Friday to deliver chocolate eggs to deserving children.

The Thames Vale Vultures' annual Berkshire Egg Run saw 400 bikers and their passengers brave the wet weather to ride from Tilehurst to the Abbey Rugby Club in Emmer Green to deliver more than 7,600 chocolate eggs for children who otherwise would not receive one.

Riders travelled from across the country to join in with the run, with one biker travelling from Poole in Dorset to take part.

Organiser Colin Hawkins from the Thames Vale Vultures said: "There were huge crowds of people cheering everyone on, standing in what can only be described as monsoon conditions to show their support for what is probably the UK's largest motorcycle Easter egg event.

"All of the Easter eggs are distributed through The Reading Rotary Clubs and Southcote Children's Hub, to deserving children and adults throughout Reading and Berkshire. Most of the eggs go to those who will only get this one egg.

"The Berkshire Egg Run would like to thank Asda, the Abbey Rugby Club, everyone who donated, took part, cheered us on and the motorists who were held up for a few minutes, for helping make the event the success that it is. "

The Berkshire Egg Run will return next year on Friday, April 18, 2019. For more details visit www.tvvultures.co.uk/the-berkshire-egg-run.
