A TEENAGER is in custody after a car crashed into a telegraph pole, birnging it down across the road.
The silver Ford Focus bought down a telegraph pole on Southcote Lane this morning.
Firefighters from Dee Road were called at 6.40am and found the driver had fled.
They disconnected the battery before clearing the road, which took 15 minutes.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We were called at 6.37am to reports of a collision in Southcote.
"The driver had left the scene. The car has been recovered and the council informed about the telegraph pole."
A 17-year-old boy from Reading was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at an accident, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, driving without insurance and dangerous driving.
He was arrested in Reading two hours after the crash and remains in custody.
