FIREFIGHTERS had to smash a car window to rescue a one-year-old baby that had been trapped inside.
The crew from Wokingham Road fire station were called to Avon Place at around 10am by the girl's parents who were locked outside the blue Ford KA.
Crew manager Guy Foster said he didn't know how long the girl had been in the car.
"She wasn't there for long after we arrived. We did all we could to open the car manually with handles etc but had to break the glass.
"She was fine but things can go downhill quickly with children."
