A TEENAGER was stabbed with a pen knife after being brutally beaten by two men on bikes.
The victim, an 18-year-old boy, was walking with a friend on Fawley Road at around 1.30pm on December 13 when he was attacked.
He was approached by two men on bicycles as he walked onto Southcote Lane and was punched in the stomach several times before being stabbed.
An elderly man saw the incident and intervened, which caused the offenders to stop and flee the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
An 18-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of attempted wounding with intent.
He has been released under investigation.
Investigating officer, detective constable Alan Pearcy, based at Reading police station, said: "This incident took place during daylight hours in a busy area of Southcote.
"I would like to speak to anyone who saw this offence, or has any information relating to it.
"I would particularly like to speak to the elderly man who intervened, as well as a group of three females who were walking nearby.
"Anyone with any information should call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101."
