A genre-blending punk band is set to perform in Reading with a high-energy show.

Millie Manders and the Shutup will headline The Face Bar on Chatham Street on Wednesday, November 4, in a night of powerful punk, ska, and pop fusion presented by Future Transmissions.

Led by London-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Millie Manders, the band is known for tackling important topics through their music, including mental health, environmentalism, and political unrest.

Their high-energy performances are packed with sharp lyricism, gritty guitars, and horns, all delivered with Manders’ trademark vocal dexterity.

John Kennedy of Radio X said: "She’s got an incredible voice."

Lynval Golding of The Specials said: "I love it. REFRESHING. What a way to start my day"

The show will also feature London-based disco-punk and alt-rock band Bugeye.

Fronted by songwriter Angela Martin and bassist Paula Snow, the band mixes 80s synths, driving basslines, and catchy vocals, and is known for its DIY ethos and LGBTQ+ activism.

Millie Manders began her musical journey at the age of five, developing a diverse background in classical, jazz, and contemporary styles, and learning clarinet, saxophone, vocals, and ukulele.

Her music combines raw punk energy with broad pop appeal, designed to provoke thought and challenge social norms.

Matt Stocks of The Punk Show described her as 'a great artist, and one to watch'.
