Reading FC confirm Wycombe Wanderers clash will go ahead

The Royals have confirmed that midfielder Andy Rinomhota, defender Jeriel Dorsett and midfielder Charlie Savage have all been selected by their respective national teams for upcoming competitive fixtures.

Rinomhota has been called up by Zimbabwe for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone and DR Congo, while Dorsett will represent Montserrat in four matches against the British Virgin Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Savage has returned to the Wales squad after recently making his 150th appearance for Reading. Wales are set to face Portugal, Denmark twice and Norway in a series of UEFA Nations League matches.

Despite the trio being unavailable, Reading manager Leam Richardson has decided not to request a postponement of Saturday's League One fixture at Wycombe.

Richardson said: "First of all, congratulations to the three lads who received international call-ups. It's a fantastic achievement for them and a proud moment for the club.

"We considered the circumstances carefully and, on this occasion, felt it was right to play the game. Football is a squad game and we have confidence in the players available to us, while keeping the fixture in place also helps us avoid adding another game to an already busy schedule.

"It's better for the supporters too. Saturday afternoon is the ideal time to play football whenever circumstances allow, so we were pleased to keep this one in place."

Reading say fewer than 100 tickets remain available for the trip to Adams Park, with sales currently open to Lite and Essential members who have accumulated more than 100 loyalty points.

The club has also indicated that its fixture against Bradford City the following weekend is currently expected to go ahead as planned, although supporters will be informed if circumstances change.

Reading wished Rinomhota, Dorsett and Savage the best of luck for their upcoming international assignments.
