Reading FC forward Kyreece Lisbie has been approached by Jamaica about the prospect of representing the Reggae Boyz at international level, The Reading Chronicle understands.
The 22-year-old is eligible to play for Jamaica through his family and has been sounded out over a potential senior call-up, with the national team continuing to monitor English-based players who could strengthen its options.
The Chronicle understands that Lisbie’s twin brother, Kyrell, has also been contacted about the possibility of representing Jamaica. Kyrell is an attacker at Millwall and spent last season at Peterborough United.
Both players are sons of former Charlton Athletic and Jamaica striker Kevin Lisbie, meaning a potential international switch would see the brothers follow their father into the Reggae Boyz set-up.
No call-up has yet been confirmed for either player, and an approach does not guarantee involvement in a future Jamaica squad. However, the contact represents a significant development as the twins consider their international futures.
Jamaica’s next competitive fixtures are scheduled for later this month, when the Reggae Boyz begin their Concacaf Nations League campaign against Guatemala on September 25 before facing Honduras three days later.
Kyreece has made a promising start to his Reading career after joining the Royals in the summer. The forward has featured regularly in Leam Richardson’s side and has established himself as an energetic, direct option in Reading’s attack.
A potential call-up would be especially notable for Kyreece, whose father Kevin enjoyed a lengthy career in English football and represented Jamaica at international level.
Kevin Lisbie made his name with Charlton Athletic before going on to play for clubs including Colchester United, Leyton Orient, Ipswich Town and Millwall. His sons have both followed him into professional football, with Kyreece at Reading and Kyrell at Millwall.
Any involvement with Jamaica would depend on the brothers accepting the approach and on eligibility and international-clearance processes being completed.
For now, the possibility remains an approach rather than a confirmed call-up, but it offers both players a potential route into international football and could see Kyreece follow his father into the Jamaica set-up.
