A Woodley child was among the winners recognised at a national awards event.
Twelve-year-old Pranav Aiyer was one of 29 honourees from across the UK and Ireland recognised for their educational achievements at the British Youth International College (BYITC) Inspire Awards 2026 – Achievers Spotlight.
The ceremony took place in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow on June 20.
A resident of Woodley and a pupil at Thames Valley School, Pranav was celebrated as an Abacus graduate for his success in BYITC’s Supermaths Abacus programme.
Dr Rashmi Mantri, founder of BYITC, said: "It was fantastic to see such a strong representation from South of England at this year’s Inspire Awards.
"These young learners have shown exceptional dedication not only in developing their maths and academic skills, but also in building confidence, leadership, and determination.
"They are wonderful role models for other children in the community."
Five children from the south of England were among the winners.
Riaan Bonnyson Macwan, 10, from Aylesbury; Methma Thishee Edirisinghage, 6, from Hayes; Jayden Nunkoo Lowtun, 10, from Watford; and Atchaya Venugopal, 10, from Basingstoke each received awards at the ceremony.
The Inspire Awards, attended by more than 100 people, recognised students in three categories: the She Power Awards, International Maths Olympiad, and Abacus Programme graduation.
Both Riaan and Methma were named Maths Olympiad winners, Jayden also took home a Maths Olympiad award, and Atchaya was recognised as an Abacus programme graduate.

Jayden’s parents, Brinda and Reshad Lowtun, expressed their pride in his achievement.
They said: "This award reflects years of dedication, practice, and commitment from Jayden.
"BYITC has helped him build life skills that extend far beyond mathematics."
The event, supported by sponsors Kiran Sagar and Saravanaa Bhavan, not only celebrated individual success but also highlighted the importance of family support, community, and inspiring young people to reach their full potential.
Based in Glasgow, BYITC runs educational programmes focused on mathematics, leadership, and personal development.
Judges for this year’s ceremony included Mrs Rohini Sharma Joshi OBE, Mr Kiran Sagar, Mr Harminder Berman, and Mr Charan Gill MBE.
