Two men have been arrested after cannabis was found at an airport.

The men, aged 42 and 35, were arrested in connection with an investigation into over 300kg of cannabis being imported.

Supported by Thames Valley Police, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and Border Force, officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) made the arrests in Wembley, London, on Friday, May 8.

The two men, who were arrested on suspicion of importing a controlled drug, remain in police custody.

A third man was arrested as part of the operation, but was later released without charge.

Officers discovered a significant quality of cannabis at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday, May 5.

Detective Inspector Dean Garvin, of SEROCU, said: “These arrests are part of an investigation into the large-scale importation of cannabis into the UK.

“The South East Regional Organised Crime Unit work closely with partners and we will use every tactic at our disposal to disrupt and dismantle these gangs and help reduce the blight of this type of criminality”.
