A riverside country walk in Berkshire that is perfect for spring has been described as “beautiful”.
Shiplake Circular in Sonning is a Thames riverside trail that takes you through woodlands and along gorgeous riverside paths.
The walk offers several routes, all offering views across the river and further afield, like the neighbouring towns and villages.
The dog and child-friendly circular path is partially paved and said to be perfect for enjoying all year, no matter the weather.
The ‘beautiful’ Berkshire riverside walk
Shiplake Circular begins in the village of Sonning, leading you past the historic St Andrew’s Church and across the River Thames.
Following the riverside path, you then make your way towards Shiplake, where there are plenty of pubs and cafes to stop at and enjoy a nice refreshment.
After Shiplake, you will leave the riverside, heading across farmland and sections of woodland before returning to Sonning.
The circular walk is around 10km in length with an estimated time of completion between two and three hours, according to AllTrails.
However, if you don’t fancy the whole walk, you can pick shorter routes, which allow you to enjoy the riverside without entering the farmland or woodlands.
AllTrails shares that the best time to enjoy the Shiplake Circular is early mornings, so you can enjoy the sunrise across the Thames and woodlands.
Along the way, you can expect to spot farm animals like cows and sheep, along with birds and swans enjoying the river.
On AllTrails, Shiplake Circular has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from more than 692 reviews and saw one visitor share: “Easy to follow.
