A couple who opened their very own cafe just nine months prior have won a very prestigious award.
Paul Scarrott, 43, and Denise Moore, 50, who are the owners of Stables Speciality Coffee Co in Arborfield were recently awarded the Muddy Stilettos Best Cafe in Berkshire.
"This is fantastic for us," Mr Scarrott said. "We started the cafe nine months ago so truth be told we were not expecting to win anything."
The cafe was entered into the competition via nominations which is something that the couple is super touched about.
Mr Scarrott said that he had heard of Muddy Stilettos and thought they would give it a go, but neither he nor Ms Moore were expecting to get anywhere.
He continued "We eventually won it which for us and the team was just amazing. We couldn't have done it without the support from all our staff and of course the customers.
"It is vote led you see so without them we couldn't have won it. It just shows how much they all believe in us as a brand which is lovely."
Other than Mr Scarrott and Ms Moore who both own the cafe, their good friend Scott Peacock has also taken on a managerial role.
Mr Scarrott said that he wanted to open a cafe after living in Australia.
"In Australia, they do cafe culture really well along with great brunches," he said. "The standard of the coffee is also really good. But aside from that the way they create a community is also great."
Mr Scarrott said that he has taken a lot of inspiration in particular from one cafe near to where he used to live in Sydney.
He said that it encompassed a real sense of community and people would come from all walks of life to eat and drink there.
"People would meet there, chat, and it created this small hub which was really lovely to experience," he said.
"That was my inspiration for creating that sort of space for the community. I wanted to build something very similar to what I saw in Australia."
Stables offers its customers a whole range of speciality coffee which they roast on site.
On top of that, they also have lots of fresh pastries and cakes for guests to have with their hot drink, along with an Australian-inspired brunch menu which has proven to be very popular.
