A beloved Reading eatery, Finn's Traditional Fish and Chips, reopened this week under an enthusiastic entrepeneurial couple.

After closing in January 2023, the popular shop on Hatherley Road, is now managed by the duo Iqbal Sandhu and Simi Sandhu.

The opening ribbon was cut at 12pm on Wednesday, September 11 by Kiren Sharma MBE, Deputy Lieutenant.

Simi said: "It's quite an honour to be able to take such a well established brand over.

"We really hope we can reintroduce Finn's back into the community. It's been a well-loved fish and chips place and truly missed in this area over the last few months.

"We're really excited to bring it back."

While the proprietors aim to maintain the classic menu offerings initially, the pair mentioned plans to slowly introduce more vegan and gluten-free options as they establish themselves.

Their primary aim, however, is to carry on the cherished reputation of the former establishment, associating a premium feel to the classic fish and chips experience.

Taking over Finn's has indeed instilled a sense of pride in the owners.

The reopening was met with equal enthusiasm from community figures.

Deputy Lieutenant Sharma, a friend and regular patron was delighted to have the honour of cutting the ribbon.

Sharma said: "They are very much community-oriented, just very honest, genuine people - you don't get a lot of people who think of the customer more than they do.

"They are very welcoming.

"I wish them all the best because they have customer service to a tee. I was just delighted to be asked to cut the ribbon."

The reopening of Finn's Traditional Fish and Chips evidently brings more than just great food back to the community - it also re-introduces the welcoming, customer-oriented spirit that the new owners are known for in their existing ventures.
